Zero-Waste Living

Zero Waste Living

In 2024, when I first tried to be zero-waste, I miserably failed. It was expensive and so few options to buy my stuff from. Still, I tried my best, if not go to zero-waste. I focused on buying my essentials on recycled paper and simply lived a minimalist life. I owned one make-up product for what I needed and tried to recycle it properly.

Living sustainably in the city is hard. Especially living in a non-sustainable way is even hard for you. Trying to find cheap eco-friendly products likely to cost you more than the non-recyclable ones you are using right now, dear read. However, I have decided to try my best in 2025, and I am sure I will do better! I will practice a planet-friendly lifestyle with eco-conscious choices to fill out my home with the essential zero-waste products that I need.

While I was brainstorming, what should I do, and wandering around my room to look out for non-recyclable items I own, I realized, shamefully I have to change my lifestyle drastically. It is true, I have been using animal test-free products for three years now, and it has been a blast to be able to consume what I own without any quilt. However, the guilt of having to toss a package into the trash, or a recycle bin where I now will not be recycled properly, physically hurts me. Therefore, I have decided to make a list of the products that I switch to recyclable materials after I have finished them. Because remember, just tossing what you own is also being unresourceful.

List:

  • Deodorant

  • Laundry detergent in a plastic container

  • My toothpaste

  • Plastic floss (I know)

  • Red plastic cups (I used them while I was moving)

  • Pre-packaged grocery food

  • Dish soap in a plastic container

  • Sponge

  • Shampoo in a plastic container

  • Body wash in a plastic container

  • Plastic body scrub

  • Make-up

  • Face wash in a plastic container

  • Paper towel
