Stranger Friend
Today I want to tell you about one person. I do not know who she is, I do not know what she is studying, her age, even her last name… However, she was my friend for a good 10 minutes and best friend for 10 seconds.
So… It may seem weird, and I totally get it. It is weird. Couple days ago an election in my school was going on. It was a whole big of a deal that all the candidates were actually stopping students in the middle of the road or approach to you while you eat, respectfully of course, and asked if you voted yet. I figured, since I did not know anybody as a candidate and cannot vote for someone who I do not believe in, it is easier to just lie and say “well, actually I voted already, I am sorry.” Then candidates would thank me for voting so sincerely I would feel bad that I lied to get off the hook.
While I was in the library studying, the last day of the voting period I shall add, one girl approached to my table and asked the same question: “did you vote yet?” I was like “yes, sorry.” She seemed relieved. Like, sincerely so happy that I just voted even though it means I probably did not vote for her. At this point, my guilt was eating me alive! I turned to her and asked her name. I told her I would like to vote for her, and she get into explaining how I cannot because there is only one chance to vote and you cannot vote again. The only thing I said was “I got you.” Then I left.
One hour later, we run into each other again. After a good one minute stare contest, she screamed “I WON” then I started to scream, almost automatically “YOU WON”. A little reminder, we are still in the middle of the library common room. There were pretty intense stares. We jumped up and down and even hugged like we were good friends for some time! She went to her own way “I won because of you” shouted, “I will buy you lunch!”
In short, now I have a new friend, who I still do not remember the last name of but share a pretty big moment together.
